Ron Raffaelli was an American photographer. During the late 1960s and early 1970s he captured some of the biggest names in rock music, including Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. He also shot album covers, posters, and even published volumes of erotic photography. By the mid-1970s he had moved on to film, shooting a series of hardcore loops that were released both under his own name and as part of the Diverse Industries series. Given Raffaelli's background these were never going to be your typical one-day wonder fuck-films! It was during this time that he met Seka.

In her autobiography, Seka recalled her first meeting with Raffaelli. "Ron was really strange... very much an egghead. Very intellectual. Smart and sweet." He shot a series of fully-clothed stills with her and was so impressed with the results that he called her back for more. "He did a lot of photo shoots for Puritan Magazine, which also had a line of 8mm films, so Ron asked me to do both. I didn't realise it, but I was in the midst of the beginning of my career."

Seka worked with Raffaelli for two extended sessions - once in 1978 and once in 1980. During these sessions a number of loops were shot, including Dream Goddess and Seka's Sauna. He also shot a lot of footage that was never used - basically home movies where he experimented with angles, light and choreography. By the early 1980s Seka had become a porn superstar and the footage was inevitably released on VHS. Unfortunately it was poorly edited and had a terrible voiceover. So I've re-edited all the clips and re-numbered them chronologically. There are 14 clips in total ranging from 4 minutes to 23 minutes. They are all silent.

These aren't loops, but footage shot around the loops when Seka was young and natural-looking. If you are a Seka fan you will want to add them to your collection. I'll be posting them all gradually over time.
